Turn it up: listen as a 900bhp Dodge Charger NASCAR shoots through a big tunnel
Top Gear’s Tunnel Run pits a big American V8 against a really long British tunnel
Believe it or not, NASCAR racers don’t just drive and go fast and turn to the left sometimes, they actually tackle street circuits and road courses too.
Today, we shall be neither turning to the left sometimes, nor tackling street circuits or road courses. We shall be gunning it full throttle down a long stretch of tunnel, because this isn’t a race, this is Top Gear’s Tunnel Run.
And in this instalment, Stig gets to grips with a leviathan of American racing: Kurt Busch’s Cup Series Dodge Charger, filled with 5.9-litres of good ‘ol American V8 and 900 hundred of the New World’s finest horses. In a car weighing the same as a Ford Focus.
Which… somewhat focuses the mind a tad. Especially when the noise this thing makes is capable of hoovering out the air from your lungs.
So, join Stig, host Becky Evans and a wall of noise that threatens to shake this really long British tunnel to its core. Turn it up nice and loud.
