Porsche’s Nürburgring record holders have got together
Fastest production car on the ‘Ring, the 911 GT2 RS, meets fastest car full stop
It’s been one whole week since Porsche broke the lap record at the Nürburgring by a quite mad 52 seconds. A record previously held by… Porsche.
Indeed, the company has a bit of a monopoly on the timings board, with the quickest production car around the ‘Ring being the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
It’d have been foolish, then, not to get the 919 Hybrid Evo, the new all-time champion, together with its (only slightly) more humble relation. One you can actually buy with money…
Just to put the 919’s 5m19.55s record into context, its slow sighting lap – as driver Timo Bernhard got his eye in before properly attacking the Nordschleife – was a 6m38s. The GT2 RS’s time, to make it quicker than any other series production car in the world? A 6m47.25s. Yikes.
