Jaguar XKR news - XKR: now with added Speed -2010

Published: 24 Jun 2010

The Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off next week. There shall be many excellent cars there. Including this one.

This is the XKR 75, a hotted-up version of Jaguar's slick coupe built to celebrate 75 years of the British marque.

It'll be officially unveiled at the Festival of Speed on July 2, and it sounds mighty excellent. The XKR's 5.0-litre supercharged V8 has been recalibrated to produce 523bhp, up 20bhp on the standard XKR. Torque rises from 461lb ft to 483lb ft.

So, yeah, it's fast. The XKR's 0-60mph time drops from 4.6 to 4.4 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 174mph. The spoilsports.

There is added Stuff to cope with the added Fastness. The XKR 75 gets stiffer springs and dampers - 28 per cent stiffer at the front, 32 per cent at the rear, if you're taking notes - and sits lower on the road. There's an aerodynamic bodykit, too, and a noisy new sports exhaust. We approve very much of all of this Stuff.

The XKR 75 will only be available in the stealthy shade of grey you seen in the picture above, and is limited to just 75 examples. Price? No word as yet, but probably quite a lot.

We'll make sure to take a good close look at the XKR 75 at the Festival of Speed. Any of you lot heading along?
