From Gaydon With Love: 007 edition Aston DB9 GT revealed
Bond-themed DB9 celebrates upcoming Spectre flick. Seduction and fighting skills not included
Aston Martin has introduced a new ‘007 Bond Edition’ to the DB9 GT range. And, as befits the world’s most suave super-spy, the limited-run special includes new features to the Aston options list, such as a deployable oil slick, missiles behind the headlights, bulletproof paint and an ejector seat.
Oh, alright then, that’s just a TG.com fantasy. Until the DVLA allows deadly weapons and getaway gadgets for road use, this Spectre-themed DB9 Coupe will do us quite nicely.
Limited to 150 examples (wonder who gets their hands on #007?), the £165,000 DB9 GT 007 gets a new shade of ‘Spectre Silver’ paint, plus a smattering of badges and stitching flourishes to denote its MI6 connotations. The touchscreen's media system gets a new Bond-themed start-up screen, apparently. No word if it automatically defaults to Shirley Bassey’s greatest hits just yet.
Mechanically, this is standard DB9 GT, essentially a DB9 in the form of its life. The 6.0-litre V12 deploys 547bhp to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox, so 0-62mph is dusted off in 4.5 seconds, and the top speed is 183mph. If you’d like to know how that translates into a driving experience, TG’s own man with a License to Drift, Ollie Marriage, can tell you all about it here.
The Bond Edition does come with a few extra goodies, however: a Globe Trotter case and Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra wristwatch are also thrown in with each car.
So, you’ve got the car, and the right fashion accessories. Who's up for saving the world?
