Driving

What is it like to drive?

on the uptake at times but when the engine's swinging towards the red this is a swift car, despite its 1850kg. And it gets that performance securely onto the road thanks to 4WD. The chassis is all about competence rather than involvement: you have to trust its high limits, but you don't feel them or play with them. Part of that is the active steering that's standard in the V6: there's no physical link from steering wheel to tyres. Instead a computer steers the car according to what it thinks you need. Which isn't as as weird as it sounds and does have advantages. Among them its direct in town but stable on motorways, and gives very advanced assisted lane-keeping, and a significant and worthwhile reduction in kickback on straight but bumpy roads.
