Infiniti Q60 review: Audi A5 too ubiquitous? Here's something that will always be a rare sight

Good stuff

Unusual, striking looks. Long-distance ability, driver aids work well

Bad stuff

Less fun to drive than a 400bhp coupe should be

Overview

What is it?

Infiniti's Japanese take on a coupe derived from a compact saloon – in this case the Q50 four-door. Think about an Audi A5, or Mercedes C-Class Coupe. Probably not a BMW 4-series, since the Q60 is more of a touring car than the BMW is. It trades away driver stimulation for refinement, aided by raft of high technology. It comes as petrol 2.0-litre four-cylinder RWD, or 3.0 V6 with all-wheel drive. The external looks are pretty distinctive, and like any coupe the style is the draw. Like it and you'll turn a blind eye to any other defects. Dislike it and no amount of dynamic talent will get you signing on the line.

What's the verdict?

Not the engaging sports car Infiniti insists. But it's a fine long-distance, high-tech car.
