Want to hear a V12 Aston scream through a tunnel? Step this way

Because sometimes, all you need is 6.5-litres of twelve-pot fury going fast in a big tunnel

We’ll soon find out how a race-bred Aston Martin V12 hypercar sounds under the curtain of a 2am starry night when it hits Le Mans next year. Should be quite something.

Until then, we have A Really Big Tunnel and [checks notes] A Really Stiggy Stig. Welcome then, to the final instalment of Top Gear’s Tunnel Run, where we take really loud cars and send them full throttle down a long tunnel.

Simple concept, simple car. Yes, the 6.5-litre V12 packaged inside the Valkyrie AMR Pro – the racing version of Aston’s mind-blowing hypercar – was co-developed with Cosworth and features any number of technical innovations.

But at its heart, this is a big, lightweight car made out of carbon fibre and la Sarthe dreams, with a big nat-asp V12 and gearbox in the middle, and some racing buckets. Gone is the hybrid bit from the road car, and in comes… a stripped-out cabin with a fancy steering wheel.

Less car for more money? Well, no. Because this £3.5m rocketship punches out 1,150bhp, revs to 11,000rpm, is quantifiably faster than the road car (we put them side by side once), and sounds like… well, you can find out right now.
