The new Audi SQ2 has sharper styling and new tech

But no extra power for Audi’s smallest sporty crossover

Published: 17 Nov 2020

How time flies. Just two years after it was first revealed at the Paris Motor Show (remember 'motor shows'?), Audi’s S3 on stilts, the SQ2, has been updated with minor visual tweaks and tech upgrades.

Starting at the front, the grille, positioned slightly lower, features a new look with polygons at the intersections of the horizontal and vertical bars. While LED headlights come as standard, new Matrix LED units now feature on new top-spec Vorsprung variants.

To the side, the revised SQ2 features aluminium-look mirror housings, sill inserts, a roof edge spoiler and grey C-pillars. As for the rear, the bumper has been redesigned to feature faux air vents with pentagonal polygon design. LED lights also feature, with those scrolling dynamic rear indicators in highest spec.

Inside, sports seats now feature electrically adjustable lumbar support (woohoo), while a rear-view camera is now standard. Vorsprung trim brings heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, Bang & Olufsen audio and wireless phone charging.

The 2.0-litre turbo engine doesn't get an upgrade, still producing 296bhp and 295 lb ft of torque, enough for 0–62mph in 4.9secs. But while there's no more power than before, the safety tech is boosted with the addition of adaptive cruise assist, bringing a glimpse of autonomy when you're on a long motorway slog.

Prices kick off at £38,700. Tempted?
