Speed Week 2022

Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica fast facts: TG Speed Week 2022

No performance car test can be without a bright orange Lambo, and here's why this one makes the list

Published: 12 Oct 2022

What is it?

After eight years, possibly the best all-round Huracán yet.

What’s the Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica's killer feature?

The Tecnica is a greatest hits collection for the baby Lambo. STO-spec 623bhp V10-engine meets rear-wheel steering and rear-wheel drive. If the winged, finned STO was too hardcore – or sold out too fast – for you, then the Tecnica should do the job. At £212,000, it’s also a bit of a supercar bargain.

Is the Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica a good car?

Here's what we said in our original review: "Have we been seduced by that wonderful engine? Hell, yeah. It’s always been special, a real high point for atmospheric internal combustion. With the sword of Damocles now poised above the entire concept, there’s no doubt the Huracán Tecnica arrives as a new(-ish) car pre-loaded with a sense of nostalgia. We won’t see its like again.

"But the rest of the car is just as good, and offers the perfect platform for the engine to do its thing. The Tecnica is hugely exciting without being spiky, hi-tech without being bamboozling. At £212,000, it’s also £48k cheaper – erm, less expensive – than the STO. It’s the sweet spot, all right."

Why does it deserve to be at Speed Week?

We’re in the dying days of Lamborghinis without hybrid assistance. The 5.2-litre nat-asp V10 seems more outrageous with every passing year and more turbo’d rivals. So it’s partly a nostalgia trip, but also has potential to embarrass the other mid-engined Italians by going big on personality and relatively easy on the, um, Tecnica.
