Vettel drives the New Jersey F1 track

Last year, our excitement on learning about the ‘Grand Prix of America' was tinged with a sigh of inevitability: the New Jersey F1 race, set to join the calendar next year, would simply be another opportunity for fans to watch The Sebastian Vettel Finger of Win Show.

Thankfully, Pirelli has turned this year's Formula One circus into Las Vegas (seven winners in seven races), but who better to check out the new US track than the defending double-world champion?

Seb became the first F1 jockey to drive the hotly anticipated street circuit, complete with police escort and free reign to get up to "some good speed", courtesy of an Infiniti IPL G Coupe. He said: "It's clear that it's going to be a big challenge in a Formula One car."

Mind you, that whole ‘getting some good speed' served as a bit of a prelude to Vettel having a bit of fun... by indulging in a spot of donuting. Suffice to say, some new rubber on the G Coupe might be necessary. Have a click of the video below, and then let us know whether or not you're looking forward to the New Jersey race - a circuit that designer Herman Tilke describes as being similar to Spa, but with the feel of Monaco...
