Fancy a matching pair of classic BTCC racing cars?
Ex-competition BMW M3 and Ford Sierra Cosworth are up for grabs, and then up for racing
It’s not often that the makings of your very own classic racing series come up for grabs. But here is such an opportunity, in the form of a 1989 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 and 1991 BMW E30 M3 touring car. They’re even in matching Labatt’s livery. What’s not to like? Nothing. There is nothing here that’s not to like.
Both the RS500 and M3 were raced by 1992 BTCC Champion Tim Harvey, and they’re both still up for competition today. Two days after they’re due to be auctioned on 27th July, both cars are pre-entered into the Silverstone Classic race meeting on 29 July. Worth bearing in mind when a £140,000-£180,000 estimate is riding on the BMW, while the Cossie is expected to command £180,000-£220,000.
To be safe, it’s sensible to set aside a round half-million quid just in case bidding gets tasty, and spend the change on a nice motorhome for Silverstone this summer. Well, it’d be a crime to mothball this pair, wouldn’t it?
