Crims beware: the world’s first Tesla Cybertruck police vehicle is here

Many lights and sirens outside and a purpose-built cabin inside. Is this the ultimate patrol vehicle?

Published: 10 Jun 2024

If you think being chased by an F-150 Lighting or Urus Performante is scary enough, behold: the world’s first Cybertruck patrol vehicle, which boasts no less than, hmm, about three million sirens and an interior packed with crim-busting gear.

It’s been created by California-based UP.FIT - specialists in decking out Teslas for wider fleet usage - with other changes including upgraded radio and computing systems to make location and subsequent capture of doughnut thieves that bit easier.

UP.FIT will even redesign the interior for various purposes, with a weapon storage facilities dock and K9 enclosures offered as part of the list. Wait, what? That's right, Frankie the fur missile will indeed have a designated space for her in one of these Cybertrucks.

Further customisation options include forged wheel and tyre packages, bigger brakes and even some off-road-focused add-ons, likely involving extra underbody protection and snappier suspension.

UP.FIT hasn’t confirmed any technical changes, however, so it’s safe to assume the package can be applied to one of the many Cybertruck power and drivetrain combinations. Those include the dual/tri-motor and all-wheel drive offerings and should extend to the forthcoming rear-drive single-motor penned in for 2025.

“We’ve been thrilled with the direct feedback from police departments that have participated in our Cybertruck development,” said UP.FIT CEO Ben Schaffer. “We look forward to deploying these complete vehicles to law enforcement agencies across the nation this year.”
