Abt is building 50 more tuned 523bhp Audi RS4s

All 50 RS4Rs are sold out. So, meet the Abt RS4+

Published: 18 Jan 2019

Not long after we brought you news of the Abt-tuned Audi RS4 Avant, the 523bhp ‘RS4R’ sold out. All 50 were snapped up. Great news for Abt, but irritating to well-heeled fans of fast estate cars who didn’t remember their online banking password quickly enough.

This story has a happy ending though – Abt is doing another batch of fast RS4s. This one’s called the RS4+.

Behind the name however, it’s almost identical in spec to the German tuner’s last RS4. You get up to 523bhp from the twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 (503bhp is standard Abt tune, but an extra ‘surcharge bumps you up another 20bhp).

The V6 breathes out via four 102mm tailpipes, hopefully solving the standard RS4’s complaint of a rather limp soundtrack. The exhaust shrouding is merely ‘carbon-look’ – odd when the rest of the RS4+ features more carbon fibre weave than the McLaren F1 team’s gift shop. The splitter, the grille surround, the rear wing…heck, even the eight-speed auto’s gearshift lever is decked out in carbonfibre.

Meanwhile, there’s adjustable suspension seen here in lo-rider mode, and a spindly set of 20-inch rims. We think it’s the tastefully aggressive upgrade the RS4 was crying out for. And as you can see on the plaque inside, there’s only going to be 50 produced. Wonder how quickly this one will sell out?
