Here’s your first look at the production-ready Kia EV4 saloon
… and its hatchback sibling, and in good news, both look just like the concept
Kia has revealed pictures of a car it intends to build very soon and make available for purchase. It is this one. The EV4, available as a saloon or hatchback, unveiled digitally ahead of a global debut at Kia’s electric vehicle day, which is called the Kia EV Day.
A year-and-a-bit since we last saw it then, and… not much appears to have changed. This is good, and what Kia promised when it told TG how the production version would closely match the concept.
There is talk of “sharp, distinctive lines” and “bold, technical detailing”. It’s certainly a sharp, bold thing, all angles and creases. And while the EV4 hatch takes on a now more mainstream form, it’s a welcome return for the four-door saloon, here reinvented for the electric age.
And that’s the plan. “The EV4 demonstrates Kia’s vision for the next generation of electric saloons through its innovative silhouette, presenting a new typology in a uniform EV market,” said Kia.
Both cars feature Kia’s ‘Tiger Face’, um, face, as well as 19in alloys, wide footprints, vertical head- and tail-lights, and a sportier aesthetic for the ‘GT-Line’ cars.
Speaking of sporty, Kia hasn’t yet divulged any technical details on the EV4, but expect it to sit on the group’s ‘electric global modular platform’. It’s a base that underpins stuff like the EV6 and EV9, offers 800V capability, front, rear and all-wheel-drive, and much power.
We’ll find out exactly how much on 27 February at Kia’s electric vehicle day, handily titled Kia EV Day.
