The EV2 is Kia’s smallest, cheapest electric car, and it’s coming your way soon

Kia to debut ‘compact EV’ alongside EV4 and PV5 in Spain later in February

Published: 12 Feb 2025

Kia is readying a small (ish) electric car to sit underneath its EV3, and – surprise! – it’s called the Kia EV2. TopGear.com does not know exactly how small the Kia EV2 will be, only that it’s ‘compact’.

Also it’ll be a concept, because Kia’s calling it the Concept EV2, and will unveil it at the ‘Kia EV Day’. This is a day where Kia will unveil some EVs, hosted in Spain as a signal for its future product plans.

Because it’s a Concept, and it’s not yet 27 February, we’ve only got these teaser images to work with. The EV2 – along with the EV4 and PV5, which’ll both be shown off at the Kia EV Day – apparently deploys the company’s ‘Opposites United’ design, and Kia’s latest electric platform tech.

“Obviously, the small car segments are very important for the European market because of the densely populated cities and the challenges with parking,” Kia’s European marketing boss David Hilbert told TopGear.com last year.

“So that’s why EV2 is going to be an important car for us in the future, and I guess it will be the entry point to our dedicated EV lineup.”

Can’t wait to see that EV4, though. Unveiled at the same time as the EV3 back in 2023, the swoopier, rakish take on the EV3 will make its big, fancy global debut. And Hilbert promised it'll stay true to the original concept. “For EV4, read between the lines in terms of EV9 and EV3 concepts to production," he told TG last year.

Ditto the PV5 electric van, which sits on a dedicated electric skateboard architecture and will underpin other van-shaped Kias for handling bidness. More as we get it…
