Citroen is making 1,000 more examples of the My Ami Buggy
Doorless special edition gets a massively extended production run, and 40 will come to the UK
Is anyone from Citroen aware of the climate in the UK? It would seem not, because it has now announced that the doorless, rag-top-roofed My Ami Buggy will be available on our soggy shores.
And yet, despite the weather, this makes us very happy indeed. You see, originally the My Ami Buggy was just a concept, but the reaction was so positive that Citroen decided to build 50 for sale in France.
That went down so well that a further run of 1,000 units has now been announced for the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Morocco, and Turkey. Blimey.
Just 40 will make it to the UK, and each will get a few alterations from the previous 50-strong special edition. For example, this time there will be roll-up transparent door covers to offer a slight bit of rain protection, while the zippered roof is apparently now easier to use and properly waterproof. Good news.
The My Ami Buggy II will also get a little removable zipper bag mounted on the steering wheel, plus a removable lightweight Bluetooth speaker called the ‘Ultimate Ears Boom’.
Thankfully the khaki colour scheme remains with flashes of ‘acid yellow’, and there are still gold steel wheels and those all-important tubular door things.
Apparently, the My Ami Buggy will cost £10,495 for UK buyers, and those who order first should get their cars (or more specifically, their quadricycles) in September this year.
