Woah! The Citroen My Ami Buggy sold out in 17 minutes 28 seconds
All 50 examples of the Citroen My Ami Buggy were accounted for in double quick time
Well then. When we brought you news that the Citroen My Ami Buggy was being put into production last week, we said you’d need to be quick. But we didn’t think you’d have to be that quick.
Citroen began taking orders for the My Ami Buggy - which began its life as a concept car back in December 2021 - earlier this week, and within 20 minutes all 50 units earmarked exclusively for France had been snapped up by eager customers.
And when we say ‘within 20 minutes’, Citroen’s stopwatch had the exact time pegged as 17 minutes and 28 seconds. And the very first buyer had completed the entire process online in two minutes 53 seconds. Gotta admire the speed of those twitchy fingers, haven’t you?
Deliveries are set to take place in August, and that lucky (or depending on your perspective, slightly mad) select group of customers will be getting an Ami quadricycle minus the roof and clad head-to-toe in khaki.
Meanwhile there are no doors as such, just a tubular frame on either side. Though if you don’t fancy inviting the elements inside, there is at least a bit of waterproof fabric that you can clip on at the slightest hint at rain.
The 8bhp motor and 5.5kWh battery remain from the (for want of a better word) standard vehicle, so you’re still looking at top speed in the region of 30mph and a total range of 47 miles.
Slow enough for fellow beachgoers to admire those 14-inch gold wheels, right?
