Students have turned this Skoda Enyaq into a camper-office for ‘digital nomads’

Yup, it’s that time of year again: students studying at Skoda’s Vocational School have been allowed to let their imaginations run wild on an Enyaq SUV, and this *gestures to the gallery above* is what they’ve come up with.

It’s called the Roadiaq, and it’s a mobile-office-slash-campervan designed for what Skoda has dubbed ‘digital nomads’. The most obvious change is the roof, which is 35cm taller than before to vastly improve headroom in the rear and prevent hunching for Zoom calls.

Your feed shouldn’t freeze either as there’s a permanent high-speed internet connection for working on the go, and the 27-inch monitor should be more than big enough for spreadsheets and PDFs.

Inside you’ll find a bed, custom furniture with oodles of storage, much cutlery to fill up the oodles of storage, a wireless speaker, kitchen appliances, chairs, tables and - rather worryingly - torches and a survival kit.

All of the materials inside are completely recyclable, and there’s also an espresso machine. Because those early starts can be rough wherever you are in the world.

The Roadiaq is based on an Enyaq iV 80x, which means (pre-mods, at least) AWD and 261bhp for 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds. Meanwhile an 82kWh achieves 308 miles of range… again when there’s not a bulging roof and a tonne of camping gear in the back.

Luckily there are solar cells to help top up the battery (and power the shower, would you believe), although you can also plug the car into an external supply if you’re at a campsite or caravan park.

The final touch is a tent attachment, so you can spread out a little when you’ve parked up for the night.

“As a mobile-office camper, the Roadiaq allows you to work wherever you want,” said Maren Gräf, Skoda's board member for people and culture. “It’s a reflection of the new, flexible work approach we at Skoda are fully committed to.

“Over the course of the project, it was particularly impressive to see the enthusiasm and dedication to detail the students at the Academy demonstrated. This concept car shows in an impressive manner what people can achieve together if they dedicate themselves to a project with passion.”

As we alluded to, this isn’t the first time Skoda has let its students run amok on a production car: this is the ninth concept to emerge from a scheme that’s now a decade old, with previous highlights including a Kodiaq-based pick-up truck and last year’s Kamiq-inspired rally car.
