You want this Skoda Enyaq iV with a roof tent
But you can’t have it, sorry: the Enyaq iV FestEVal won’t be going into production
What’s better than a Skoda Enyaq iV 80? A Skoda Enyaq iV 80 with a roof tent, that’s what. Say hello to the FestEVal, an electric SUV purpose-built for living it large this summer.
Why has Skoda done this? Who knows. Perhaps someone high up on the payroll is headed to a festival this month and didn’t fancy glamping. Whatever, we like it.
The FestEVal sleeps four: two in a fold-out double bed in the rear and two more up in the ‘luxury’ roof tent. What makes it luxury? Er, it has a ladder. And a solar-powered fan. And an integrated torch. All things you’d find at a five-star hotel, obviously.
The Enyaq is also fitted with an all-purpose camping unit (made by Czech firm EGOE) in the boot, which features a gas cooker and a sink with tap and hose functions, as well as storage for all that crockery.
Skoda will even throw in a couple of flat-folding chairs and a table too.
There are shades inside to keep the light out overnight, and wifi for up to eight separate devices so you can happily surf the web once the gig has finished.
This is based on an Enyaq iV 80 don’t forget, which means you get the big 82kWh battery and a WLTP-estimated 338 miles of range. No word on what the extra weight and, you know, that whopping great roof tent do to the range, although Skoda insists it ‘aligns’ with the car’s drag coefficient of 0.257. Make of that what you will.
Tempted? Tough, the FestEVal is a one-off unfortunately with no plans to put it into production, though you could of course buy most of the gear yourself.
Or, heaven forbid, tow a caravan.
