Coming soon to TopGear.com: BMW M3 Touring vs THE WORLD
We’ve lined up the toughest of tests to find out just how sorted BMW’s 503bhp super-wagon really is…
Caution: we’re about to stick our necks out and say the new BMW M3 Touring is 2023’s most wanted car.
No, the recipe of splicing a 3 Series Touring with M3 mechanicals isn’t surprising. It’s not an epoch-shaking, era-defining new world order on planet car. It’s a 503bhp estate with 500 litres of boot space. It can be all-wheel drive, mostly rear wheel drive, or purely rear-drive. It can be supplied with silly carbon fibre chairs. You may or may not like its face. Oink.
But we do love a fast wagon. Umpteen Alpinas, various RS6s, mighty AMGs… super-estates are just cool. End of story. And that means it could be possible to get carried away. To start to wonder if the BMW M3 Touring is indeed the greatest car of all time, ever.
So, TopGear.com has been busy using science to determine just how good the new M3 Touring actually is. Is it, for instance, actually less useful than a sporty crossover SUV?
A very tribal question, that. And here’s another? are you better off having your rapid German estate express with pure electric power?
If you’re after dat fast wagon lyfe, are you not better off spending half as much money and buying something less flash?
Oh, and just how much all-time great family V8 powerhaus is it possible to buy for the same price as all the optional extras on one M3 Touring? Told you those carbon chairs were silly…
All this and more will be answered by M3 Touring vs The World on TopGear.com next week. Stay tuned…
