Check out this Ford Bronco Wildland Fire Rig
Ford and Filson team up to support forest firefighters
Meet the Ford Bronco Wildland Fire Rig. Developed in collaboration with Filson, manufacturer of outdoor gear, Ford is donating two of the go anywhere models, equipped with firefighting equipment, to support wildland firefighters and the National Forest Foundation.
Based on the Bronco Badlands four-door SUV with Sasquatch Package, it features Forest Service Green paint – similar to the first-generation U.S. Forest Service Bronco – and includes a full fire skid with 50-gallon water tank.
Additional highlights include a winch and roof rack along with an LED light bar, plus some serious equipment including a Pulaksi, shovel, axes, fire hose reel, high-pressure water pump, chainsaw and high lift jack. Oh, and two hard hats.
Filson’s contribution comes in the form of the otter green duck canvas used on the door bolsters, armrests and seat trim surrounds, plus quilted black leather seats similar to that found on the lining of Filson jackets, with embossed Bronco logo.
The grab handles on the instrument panel and centre console are pained in Filson otter green, with fireproof ripstop nylon, similar to that on Filson backpacks and briefcases, used for the top and rear cargo area divider, which can be opened and rolled back.
Naturally, much like any emergency service vehicle, the Ford Bronco Wildland Fire Rig, which, Ford says, has been intended as “as a model of future firefighting rigs”, features an all-important CB radio, mounted on the instrument panel.
As part of the collaboration, limited-edition Bronco and Filson gear is also available on the Filson website, to raise further funds for the National Forest Foundation.
