This is the new TVR’s carbon iStream chassis

TVR’s new coupe, potentially badged ‘Griffith’, won’t be on the roads until 2017. So to keep us interested and those deposits landing on the company door mat (there’s apparently a pile 400-deep already), Gordon Murray Design has released this cutaway shot of the car’s chassis. The tease.

Eagle-eyed detective skills are not required to spot the Cosworth-tuned V8 engine up front, and more importantly so far as Gordon Murray is concerned, the aluminium-meets-carbon chassis structure which is set to make the TVR both lighter and faster to produce than its rivals. Think Jaguar F-Type, Porsche 718 Cayman and Audi TT RS.

Long bonnet, short rear overhang, around 400bhp pulsing away up front – it promises plenty, doesn’t it? Though TG.com probably won’t be plumping for one painted the same colour as Barbie’s dream house.

As we’ve previously reported, a full carbon body will be optional on the new TVR, with composite glassfibre panels the standard-fit alternative. It all sounds rather well-engineered. Hope they’ve remembered to make it absurdly loud.

That’s half the reason we’re excited TVR’s coming back, after all…
