Land Rover Discovery - long-term review

I’ve now got past the point of finding the Disco too precious to get dirty. Not just the outside (it’s an off-roader – it looks good with a layer of clag), but the cabin. All those gadgets, the Range Rover-style dashboard, the drive upmarket and so on made me wary of welly prints on the carpets and cupholder spillage.

Then the other weekend I took eight boys mountain biking. The weather was filthy, the clothes afterwards were indescribable. Stuff was hurled about the cabin in a way only 13-year-olds can manage. And I didn’t mind, even when I realised mud had clogged the perforated leather of the cooled seats. It’s not only hard wearing, but cleans easily too. And no, I didn’t use the pressure washer on the inside.
