Buying

What should I be paying?

Interestingly, Lexus acknowledges that while the UX300e in basic trim stands at £500 more to buy than a Tesla Model 3 Standard Plus, it reckons that the business contract hire runs out at £44 pounds a month less. And getting on for £100 less per month on total cost of ownership. Make of that what you will - because it gets complicated when you start to run all the numbers. Still, the UX would be a fine enough thing to live with, even without the various packs.

Lexus reckons that twenty per cent of buyers will still plump for Takumi spec - which just goes to show that people really like a Mark Levinson hi-fi and ‘three-eye’ LED headlights, if nothing else.

As far as other stuff goes, there’s a three-year/60,000-mile new vehicle warranty, a battery warranty that runs to eight years/100,000 miles as standard or a decade and 600,000 miles with the optional care pack. A 12-year/unlimited-mileage corrosion/perforation warranty and three years/unlimited miles for surface rust and paintwork. That’s a lot of warranties.

Insurance groups are yet to be decided at the time of writing but given the cost of the car and electric nature, they probably won’t be bargain basement. It’ll be reliable though, and Lexus dealers appear to have a very good rep.
