GMC Acadia (US) review
Interior
What is it like on the inside?
The Acadia’s cabin is equipped with all the basic conveniences one would need. Up front, a 15in infotainment display and an 11in digital driver info screen are standard across all trims. You’ll also spot how designers gave the Acadia a lift in the style department with well thought-out stitching and other small touches.
In the Denali, the Acadia sports leather-appointed seats, which are also heated and ventilated, matched by premium wood accents. This trim also comes with an 8in HUD for the driver.
What about cargo and passenger room?
GMC has increased the space for both in this version of the Acadia. Behind the third row is 23 cu ft of cargo space, increased to 57.3 with that row folded down. If needed, the second row can fold down to maximize the storage capacity to 97.5 cu ft.
But let’s say you have more people in your life than possessions. How lovely. Apart from the driver, three people can ride in comfort, one in the passenger and two in the snazzy captain’s chairs of the second row. The three least favorable can be banished to the third row, an area GMC says is adult-sized and not just a place to contain children, though in practice, this is more technically true than practical.
Talk about the tech.
In terms of gadgets, there’s plenty to appreciate in the new Acadia. First off, a host of standard safety tech is included across the board, and this includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian safety features and tons more. The SUV also has nine available cameras for parking and the off-road stuff you might get up to.
Up front, the aforementioned 11in touchscreen is the source for most functions, though some can be cross-configured with the digital driver display like navigation and such. GMC thankfully allows users to make full use of the available screen real estate by either using it full screen or breaking it up into customizable widgets so users can multitask. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available.
