Audi SQ8 review

There’s a lot to like here, provided you’re a fan of screens and black delivered in many different ways. All tastefully done though. It’s very similar inside to the A6 and Q7 obviously, with a heavy reliance on touchscreens for everything. Just as well there’s a lot of real estate space given over to them: higher and lower console screens, plus a huge dash display. Mostly it’s easy to navigate.

You sit high and you’re well placed in the cabin and because the sloping rear glass is closer and the roofline lower, the SQ8 feels smaller not just than a SQ7, but many of its more coupe-ish rivals, too. It has a good stance on the road and the driving position reflects that – you feel in command, have a good awareness of how big you are and roughly where the extremities are. 

It’s not really a family car, but it’s huge so it’ll do the job well. Plenty of space in the back – probably more legroom than the Q7 to be honest, since it isn’t compromised by having to offer a third row of seats – and a 605-litre boot that expands to 1755 litres with the seats folded. That’s generous.
