Audi SQ8 review
Buying
What should I be paying?
Prices start at £85,585. Because lease firms aren’t that sure which way the wind is going to blow for these big, heavy, profligate SUVs, and what they will be worth at the end of a three year term, lease costs are high. You might, if you try hard, get hold of a base version for less than £1,000 per month on a four year term with around £10,000 deposit.
But really you’ll be encouraged to spend more, because on the second hand market the salesman will tell you it’ll be the up spec Black or Vorsprung editions that people will be looking for. The Black is £89,480 on the road, the Vorsprung – the one that stops you having to go to the effort of ticking all those boxes on the configurator yourself – £108,085. But that means big increases on the monthly repayments – probably another £250-£300. Ask yourself if the B&O sounds, panoramic roof and massage seats are worth that much to you.
Because the truth of the matter is that people don’t pay for options on the used market, they pay for colour, mileage and condition. A good toy count just means the car is likely to sell faster, not for more money.
