Video: spontaneous weight reduction at 174mph

This poor chap. He’s ambling along at a steady 174mph in his E46 M3, probably thinking about what line he’s going to take going through Tiergraten, then bang. His door’s fallen off. 

The video was posted first on Setra Motorsport’s Facebook page, and then to the Nurburgring’s YouTube channel a day later. Details are scant – we don’t know whether the door was damaged in any way prior to the, erm, falling off, or whether it was simply structural failure. Not that it matters. 

Handy as spontaneous weight reduction is, we’re surprised the shock/noise/sudden rush of air didn’t make him spear off into the Armco…
