Goodwood in the snow: what's Ferdi Porsche’s GP Ice Race?
Everything you need to know about this Austrian ice-racing spectacle in one handy video
After a three year break, the F.A.T International Ice Race at Zell am Zee is back. What on earth is it, you cry? And why haven't you heard about it before?
Originally organised by 30-year old Ferdi Porsche (yes, that Porsche), the Austrian ice racing event can trace its roots way back to the 1950s, with the Porsche family having a strong presence in the area way back then. Enthusiasm waned until Ferdi brought the event back in 2019, with an eclectic showcase of everything from Porsche factory Dakar cars to 1950s speedsters and everything in-between.
And it's not just Porsches, there's everything from dune buggies to hot hatch rally specials and priceless vintage Ferraris.
So what's it all about? Let Top Gear's Ollie Marriage be your guide.
