The new Lincoln Navigator gets a 48in screen and seating for up to eight people
Fifth-gen Navigator arrives in the US to renew its battle with the Cadillac Escalade
This is the new 2025 Lincoln Navigator, and we should probably switch things up a bit and start on the inside. Go on, just look at those interior images. Reckon that 48in panoramic screen is big enough for you?
If it isn’t then don’t worry, because the new Navigator also gets an 11.1in central touchscreen with integrated Google Maps and voice control via Google Assistant. Fancy materials too – there’s premium leather, genuine wood trim and ‘a crystal-inspired volume knob’. Erm, right.
There’s also something called ‘Lincoln Rejuvenate’. Apparently, this turns the Navigator into a “spa on wheels” when the car is in park. All you need to do is select whether you want a five- or 10-minute spa session, and then the car kicks into action by reclining the driver’s seat and switching on the heating and massage functions. It then retracts the steering wheel and displays ‘calming visuals’ on the multiple screens while ambient lighting and ‘soothing sounds’ complement the show. Oh, and a ‘subtle fragrance’ apparently fills the cabin at the same time. May as well cancel that spa day you had booked in.
There’s seating for up to eight inside the Navigator if you spec bench seating in the second and third rows. In the images up above you can see the seven-seat option with two captain’s chairs in the second row. All three rows can feature heated seats and there are audio and climate controls in the middle as well as up front. There’s also up to 14 USB ports on board and a fancy 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D audio system.
On the outside there’s all new styling with a giant grille and lightbars at both ends. There’s also a distinct lack of chrome – that’s been replaced with satin aluminium accents. The wheels are now 22in as standard but you can upgrade to 24in alloys if you wish to really test the adaptive suspension’s credentials.
But while everything is new on top, the Navigator’s oily bits are actually very familiar. It’s still powered by the twin-turbo 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 (making 434bhp and 510lb ft of torque), there’s still a 10-speed automatic gearbox and you still get four-wheel drive as standard. Ford’s BlueCruise ‘hands-free’ highway driving system is standard and you can spec a Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package to up the towing capacity to just under four tonnes.
The new Navigator will go on sale next spring as it attempts to regain its crown as king of the giant luxury SUVs from the Cadillac Escalade. There’s no word on pricing just yet, but expect the Navigator to start at around the $90,000 mark.
