This is a brand new old Mustang

The body and shape you'll recognise from the 1960s. The drivetrain, chassis and creature comforts? Very much not from the 1960s. This is Revology Cars' brand new, old Ford Mustang.

Yep, in the vein of Singer's rather glorious 911, the Florida-based Revology has tweaked the American icon so it'll fit into the 21st century.

It's still undeniably a Mustang in shape, naturally. The brand new steel body is produced by a company called Dynacorn, but licensed by Ford, with only a few changes to integrate the modern underpinnings. "You can literally unbolt a piece from a Revology Mustang replica and bolt it to an original Mustang and it will fit," says company founder Tom Scarpello. Scarpello worked for Ford's Special Vehicle Team for six years, so knows his way around the Blue Oval.

There's MacPherson strut front suspension and a three-link rear, developed by RRS of Australia specifically for this car, along with vented disc brakes all round, and a 265bhp 5.0-litre V8 up front with a more recent engine management system. Revology offers the choice of a five-speed manual or automatic gearbox, too.

Then there are the touches like remote keyless entry, electric seats, a digital display, remote boot release, Bluetooth, LED lights, better safety systems and even electric windows operated by pushing or pulling on the original window crank handle. That's cool. There's a pair of USB connections, too.

"Automotive tech has advanced a lot in 50 years," says Scarpello, "and these old cars are truly outdated. At Revology we keep the style and character of the original car, while seamlessly integrating modern tech and materials."

Each Mustang replica base car costs $119,500, is offered in convertible and fastback body shapes, and comes with a one-year, unlimited mileage warranty. Hands up who wants one?
