The 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will come with a track-focussed ‘Precision Package’
Cancel that hybrid BMW M5 order: the 668bhp V8-engined CT5-V Blackwing might be the ultimate super saloon
Not a fan of the new 717bhp, 2,435kg plug-in hybrid BMW M5? Well, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is a super saloon that follows a simpler recipe. And yet, it’s certainly no blunt hammer. In fact, it’s now been updated for 2025 and we’re told there'll be the option of a new ‘Precision Package’.
Cadillac describes this as “a more track focused chassis package” that'll include carbon ceramic brakes, a larger front anti-roll bar, revised suspension bushings and increased spring rates. There will also be new front steering knuckles and new rear suspension toe links that’ll apparently allow for “more aggressive wheel alignment for track usage”. Excellent.
Cadillac says the Precision Package won’t compromise luxury or refinement of the CT5-V Blackwing, but it’s a comprehensive and fairly serious-sounding upgrade, with the MagneRide dampers, the steering, the chassis controls and the electronic limited slip diff all also recalibrated to make the car perform better on track.
It’s worth remembering that Cadillac had already announced a few upgrades for the 2025 model year Blackwing, but crucially it also retained the 668bhp 6.2-litre supercharged LT4 V8 engine that can be paired with either a six-speed manual or 10-speed auto gearbox. Go for the former.
“For 20 years, V-Series has represented Cadillac's commitment to performance, technology and craftsmanship, serving as the purest expression of the brand’s core values,” said John Roth, vice president of Cadillac. “We wanted to put an exclamation mark on this era of Cadillac excellence and offer enthusiasts the utmost in driving exhilaration.”
Sounds great, doesn’t it? Let’s just hope this isn’t the very end for the CT5-V Blackwing.
