Out now: Top Gear's shiny 25th anniversary issue

The greatest cars in TG history, the Bugatti Divo, and the world's best tow cars

Published: 06 Sep 2018

What do you get if you mix 53 countries, 1.7 million miles and 300,000 cups of rubbish BBC tea? The answer: 25 years of Top Gear Magazine.

This month we celebrate the best cars, road trips, interviews, and behind the scenes drama of the last quarter century, celebrating 25 years of automotive awesomeness in our special anniversary supplement.

In your usual TG mag, though, we meet the €5 million Bugatti Divo. While it has the same 1,479bhp behemoth engine as the Chiron, the other components have been toughened up. Every vent, duct and wing is there to work, producing 456kg of downforce. Just 40 will be produced, exclusively for Chiron owners.

Not able to get the dream Chiron/Divo twin-car garage? Never fear – we have plenty of alternatives as we find what manufacturer makes the best of the SUV and supercar worlds, in an unusual way.

Why drive your pride and joy on the potholed British roads when you can buy a second one to do the dirty work for it? A Lamborghini Urus towing a Huracán Performante, you say? We head out on the ultimate caravanning holiday. But that’s not all: we’ve also towed a Mercedes-AMG GT R with a G-Class, a Jaguar Project 8 with a Range Rover Sport SVR and even popped a Bentley GT3 racecar behind a Bentayga.

We’ve also headed off to Japan to spy on the Super GT with TG’s old friend Jenson Button, with a whistle-stop tour of the weird and wonderful sites of Tokyo thrown in for good measure.

There’s a visit to automotive royalty Jim Glickenhaus, creator of the SCG003 hypercar, and our own Ollie Marriage even stops by the Gobi desert to find some dinosaur fossils. There’s a motoring link, we promise.

Plus there’s the usual array of Top Gear first drives, reviews and comparisons, including not only the hardcore Jaguar Project 8 against the, um, hardcore BMW M3 CS, but the US army's new 6.3-tonne war hero. Yikes. We may be 25 years in, but we’re not slowing down anytime soon.

Grab your issue now – and send your cake and balloons to the usual address, please.
