Michael Schumacher’s old E55 AMG wagon could be yours for £100k
Ties with the F1 legend seem to have inflated the price. Maybe
One of the easiest ways to add value to an old car is for it to have been driven – and preferably owned – by a famous celebrity. Just look at these examples from David Beckham and Steve McQueen.
However, this dealership in Berlin might be pushing its luck with a £100,000 asking price for this Mercedes AMG E55 wagon, which previously belonged to seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher.
Delivered in 1998, when Schumi had a paltry two world titles to his name, the car contains a number of clues which suggest it really did belong to the racing legend.
A Nürburgring sticker on the tailgate and a Ferrari plaque on the dashboard hint at a motorsport past, while an unnerving bust of Schumacher’s own head sits in the passenger seat.
If that doesn’t count as conclusive proof, we don’t know what does.
The vehicle itself looks to be in decent shape, and has done 123,000 miles in the 18 years since its birth. Getting on a bit it maybe, but there’s every chance the 5.4-litre engine still packs a substantial amount of its original 344bhp punch.
It’s got plenty of bells and whistles too: leather seats, a sunroof, voice-activated satnav, Bose sound system, climate control, sports suspension... the list goes on.
Oh, and there’s the important combination of a full service history and 12 months MOT as well.
Worth it for a six-figure sum? If you’ve got the cash...
