The Lexus LC has received *another* round of updates
Lexus can’t stop fiddling with the minutiae of its cut-price Aston Martin rival
"The precision skills of Lexus’s takumi master craftspeople,” we're told, lead to “continuous, detailed refinement of driving dynamics".
Last time Lexus updated its LC and LC Convertible – mere months ago – we were informed takumi knowhow was coursing through the thing. Suspension and power steering tweaks were deployed to make the whole thing drive just that little bit sharper.
And now we have an update to the update, with retuned suspension front and rear “to give the driver a better sense of the car being contact with the road, linear steering response and steering effectiveness”. Contact with the road usually being quite optimal in a circa 500bhp rear-driven car.
“As a result,” we’re told, “the coupe delivers sharper handling and a closer sense of connection between driver and car.” At the rate they’re constantly sharpening it up, it’s going to resemble its GT500 racecar relation shortly before next summer. Here’s hoping, huh.
Other tweaks are similarly subtle. There’s greater differentiation in the car’s behaviour when you switch between its Normal and Sport modes, the gear selector now makes flicking between P, R, N and D a less vague process while “a new ‘deep hung’ construction for the cushion and seatback raises the comfort of the front seats". No, you’re sniggering under your breath.
The updates have all found their way into the LC Black Inspiration edition, which launches at the same time and is – well – black. Prices for that start at £99,550 for the LC coupe (in either V6 hybrid or snarling V8 format) and £102,725 for the Convertible (which only comes with the V8).
