You can now commission a right-hand drive Ford Bronco for the UK
... if you’ve got a spare few months and £100,000 sitting around, that is
We’d be lying if we said Ford’s decision not to send the new Bronco to our shores didn’t leave us with a bitter taste, but there's good news from UAE-based firm Global Conversions. Yep, as you might have guessed from the name, you can now get yourself a proper right-hand drive Bronco. Only issue? The entry price is just under £100,000. Ouch.
After sourcing your desired Bronco with the correct powertrain and trim level, Global Conversions gives the car a shakedown to pinpoint any existing faults. Its mechanics then remove the bonnet and everything beneath before the welding and repositioning process can begin.
Apparently most of the parts needed for the conversion are purchased directly from Ford, and once all the work is done the result is a Ford Bronco that should feel right at home here in Blighty.
You’ll still climb in to discover the standard digital dial display and 12-inch multimedia screen perched in the middle. You’ll also spot an array of heritage-inspired switchgear and detailing.
And sitting just ahead of all that will be one of two powertrains: a 300bhp 2.3-litre four-pot or a 330bhp turbocharged six-cylinder. Both are equipped with four-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission, though the former has the option of a seven-speed manual.
Although actually, you could even get the Bronco Raptor in right-hand drive if you ask nicely. That also uses a V6 but pumps out a much tastier 418bhp.
"The Ford Bronco represents the epitome of adventure and performance," said Global Conversions chairman Suresh Edirisinghe.
"With its rugged exterior design and modern technology, it's a vehicle that appeals to enthusiasts of all ages. Now, with our left to right-hand drive conversions, customers worldwide can experience the thrill of driving a Bronco."
