Crims beware! Dubai Police add Lamborghini Urus Performante to fleet

Sporting a fresh new livery, this Urus also has heavy interior modifications including a service equipment storage section and an armoured gun box *gulp*

Published: 15 Jan 2024

It seems like Lamborghini is hell-bent on turning the Urus Performante into the world’s most popular police car, and has followed up the Italian State Police commission with one for the Dubai 5-0. And all the while, the British constabulary has to make do with tatty Vauxhall Astras.

Let’s start with the livery, where the primary white coat has been supplemented by a dark green bonnet. A selection of vinyls and stickers are also spread across, while the front splitter, grille, side skirts, rear splitter and wing have all been painted black. It's not the most elegant look, we’ll be honest, but it’s plentiful to shake up even the most law-abiding of Dubai’s motorists.

Inside, a major overhaul of the passenger compartment has been carried out to now include an armoured gun box and fold-down infotainment display, while the boot now has a storage section for service equipment such as a defibrillator for first aid duties.

The standard twin-turbo V8 will continue to power Dubai Police’s latest recruit, delivering 657bhp and 627lb ft of torque to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. That means a 3.3s sprint to 62mph and a Vmax of 190, though the added weight has probably caused a slight tremor to these figures.

Lambo's Paolo Sartori said: “Following our delivery of a Urus to the force in 2022, this new Urus Performante edition will be used to carry out a range of public duties and, above all, will help enhance the city’s security and safety, with this initiative further demonstrating our brand’s longstanding presence here in the UAE.”

Yep, we believe you. We definitely won’t be expecting to see YouTube clips of trainee police officers doing doughnuts around quiet desert roads.

Jokes aside, the Urus Performante does continue a long-term partnership between Lamborghini’s Dubai dealership and the local police, which has seen some of Sant’Agata Bolognese’s very best supercars, such as the Aventador, enter our list of the greatest police cars ever. Long may it continue.
