The all-new Toyota Land Cruiser will cost from £74,995 in the UK

Fancy a car that’s about as durable as a Nokia 3310? Well, the new Toyota Land Cruiser could be the car for you… provided you’ve got £74,995 lying around. Yep, that’s the going rate for the entry-level ‘Invincible’ model - likely named after Arsenal’s 2003/04 season - when it lands later this year. 

Customers can alternatively choose a limited-run ‘First Edition’ trim that’ll set them back another five grand on top. Changes for that car include rounded headlights, 18in black alloys and a bi-tone paint job, all of which reference the original Land Cruiser 40 of the Sixties. 

Regardless of which exterior version you opt for, the cabin remains almost identical. That means a 12.3in infotainment screen, head-up display, 14-speaker JBL audio unit and a sunroof, among other goodies. There should also be somewhere to charge your Nokia 3310. Maybe.

Unsurprisingly, we were impressed with the new Land Cruiser when we drove it for the first time earlier this month. It’s still indestructible, and it’s still the same size as Mexico’s Chicxulub crater. But it’s been given a much-needed exterior redesign since the previous generation was produced (and mostly unchanged) for all of 12 years.

Power is also provided by an upgraded version of Toyota’s prominent 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine. That’ll send 201bhp and 369lb ft of torque to all of the seven seater’s wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. 

We're told that UK deliveries will begin in September for both the Invincible and First Edition versions, with a 48-volt mild hybrid joining the range at some point in 2025. More expensive than you expected?
