These are the last ever Koenigsegg Agera RS hypercars
Two Ageras named ‘Thor’ and ‘Vader’ are the last ones before 2019 replacement
Sorry, Sweden, the bad news continues to come from set pieces. Koenigsegg has confirmed that these two rather lovely hypercars represent the very, very, very last Agera RS models.
They are called ‘Thor’ and ‘Vader’, and are known as the ‘Final Edition’ series – a run of three cars announced back in 2016. Their completion means the Agera line has totally finished now. No more. No more special editions or anything.
So, these two are based on the Agera RS, though here fitted with special aero and every option Koenigsegg offers (at no extra cost). ‘Thor’ (yes, it’s a v cool name) gets a two-tone clear carbon finish with diamond flakes, a Le Mans-style central fin and the company’s active aero.
‘Vader’ (again, a v cool name) gets the same clear carbon/diamond flake finish, but also a pair of winglets and other highlights finished in white gold leaf. There’s a bigger rear spoiler, supported by strakes with bespoke cut-outs.
Both of course, come with the ‘1MW’ engine: a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 producing 1,360bhp and 1,011lb ft of torque, just like the One:1. And it’s an engine that has powered the Agera to serious provenance – it claimed five speed records last November, including the fastest top speed.
Which means its successor has a mighty mountain to climb. But, fear not, because this is where there is some good news! The replacement for the Agera will be unveiled at the 2019 Geneva motor show.
Boss Christian von Koenigsegg told TopGear.com earlier this year that the new car will retain the Agera’s basic template – a mid-mounted V8, a conventional paddleshift gearbox, and Koenigsegg’s signature targa roof. It’ll be lighter, and more track focused than even the bonkers Regera.
