One-off pink McLaren 720S debuts at Pebble Beach

McLaren describes this one-off 720S as “truly striking”. We’ll leave it to you to decide whether they’re right or not.

It’s been created by McLaren’s Special Ops division, for the delectation of “entrepreneur and philanthropist” Michael Fux, for display at this weekend’s Concours event in Pebble Beach, which is in California.

It’s a paint and trim special, with no extra power or performance. Not that you’d need any if our crazy figures are anything to go by.

The colour, named ‘Fux Fuschia’, was actually created by Rolls-Royce for Mr Fux – presumably on another of his vehicles – and redeveloped by MSO for use on his 720S. As such, he gets the exclusive rights to use it on any other McLaren he chooses. Makes finding his car in a busy car park that much easier, we suppose…

Elsewhere, the colour features as detailing on the lightweight alloys and strips along the doors, a pinstripe across the steering wheel and even details in the rear view mirror.

Everything else inside, from headlining to cup holder, is covered in MSO bespoke white leather with white stitching. Even the floor mats are white. Perhaps remove your shoes before you get in. Maybe even have a shower first too. Or just wrap yourself in protective film before entering the cabin.

“MSO provides McLaren owners with virtually limitless possibilities to tailor a car exactly to their needs and tastes,” explains Jolyon Nash, McLaren’s global sales and marketing exec director.

Naturally, the cost of this pink/purple inspired flourish isn’t disclosed, but a regular McLaren 720S in Luxury spec starts from £218k. Mr Fux has form in modifying McLarens, too: he’s previously specced a 12C in orange, a 12C Spider in purple, and a McLaren P1 in a bespoke green.
