This is the first Lamborghini Centenario in the States

Carbon and blue 760bhp special is set to roll around California. Like it?

Published: 24 May 2017

This is the first Lamborghini Centenario in the US. And doesn’t it look striking? It’s the first of the America-bound Centenarios to be land in the US, and it’s been unveiled by its dealer, Lamborghini Newport Beach in California.

Just 40 Centenarios have been sold worldwide, split evenly between coupes and roadsters. Beneath it’s an Aventador, but one whose V12 engine has been tuned up to 760bhp, enough for a 2.8sec 0-62mph time and 217mph top speed.

The cost? A princely £1.7million. But then there’s plenty of tech – it debuted four-wheel steering in Lamborghinis – and this example has plenty of carbon. While the examples of the Centario we’ve seen so far have had yellow highlights, this one has blue. Reckon they complement the gloss carbon or not?

Some of the tech launched on the Centenario has made its way beneath the Lamborghini Aventador S, which is almost 85 per cent cheaper. But then that’s not clad in carbon, will be produced in far greater numbers, and doesn’t explicitly celebrate the birth of Lambo’s founder Ferruccio Lamborghini. He would have been 100 when the Centenario launched.

Simple question, really. Would you like to roll around sunny California in this thing?
