Pagani will build a Huayra roadster

Published: 20 Feb 2015

It is with profound sadness that we report this, but Pagani has confirmed to TopGear.com that its Huayra has sold out.

But, far from giving you a moment to wallow in the sadness of losing another of Pagani's greats, we bring Good News! A roadster version of the Huayra has been confirmed for the Geneva Motor Show... in 2016.

Yep, Pagani has told TG that it'll hit next year's Geneva motor show with a convertible version of that 6.0-litre, turbocharged monster.

The Huayra don't forget, followed up the bonkers Zonda - long a TG favourite - in 2012, and quickly earned the title of Top Gear magazine's Hypercar of the Year. Not long after, it also blitzed a path around our humble test track on Top Gear TV, recording the fastest Power Lap ever with a 1m 13.8s time.

Such pace is thanks, at least in part, to that AMG-derived 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, pumping out a not inconsequential 730bhp and many, many torques. Expect the roadster to feature the same engine, with a similar 0-62mph time of just over three seconds.

We'll have more news as soon as we get it. Now, considering how undead the Zonda remains, wonder how many special edition Huayras we'll see? And we've got all our fingers and toes crossed for a Huayra ‘R'...

*The above photo isn't the new Huayra convertible. It is our best Photoshop guess. Doesn't look too bad though, right?
