It's Kahn's Aston DB9-based 'Vengeance'

Kahn has revealed its latest creation. It's called the ‘Vengeance', and it is not pleased to meet you.

Yep, from the same company that brought you the unfortunately-named ‘Flying Huntsman' bespoke Defender, this ‘Vengeance' is said to be "inspired by the Aston Martin designs of the 1980s and 1990s". Mention is made of a "sabretooth on the prowl".

So, what is a Vengeance, then? Mechanically, it's pure, brand new Aston Martin DB9 underneath. Everything from that untouched, 6.0-litre, 510bhp V12, through questionable flappy-paddle gearbox, rear-wheel-drive, suspension, crash structures and even the airbags. "Why change perfection?" asks Kahn.

Up top however, it's all new. Hand-built, too. The body features that ‘sabretooth' new front grille, a new bonnet with a larger bulge in the middle, wider, flared rear wings, and a redesigned rear, with bespoke taillights.

Perhaps in a nod to Aston's 007 association, the new diamond-cut wheels have been fashioned after a roulette wheel, and measure up 20 inches at the front, and 21 inches at the back.

There are no performance figures - this is a design study, not a performance upgrade - and so we'll take the standard DB9's figures as granted: 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds, and a top speed of 183mph. Not too shabby, all things considered.

It'll be produced in limited numbers only in the Midlands - "in a nod to the region's history as the heartland of the British automotive industry" - and comes with an unspecified price tag. We'd wager on something a little higher than the standard DB9 Coupe's £133k sticker.

"Aston Martin has always been an inspiration," says Kahn, "in particular the early Vanquish and the V600 Vantage wide bodies, and I'm grateful for their agreement, and for wishing us success on this project." So that settles AM's position on a rebodied DB9; more positive than Mr Fisker managed for his Vanquish...
