Honda reveals NSX Concept-GT
This is the new Honda NSX Concept GT; a racing hybrid set to compete at Suzuka in next year's Super GT Series in Japan.
Bit of a monster, isn't it? But then the Super GT Series has traditionally given us drool-worthy monster racers in the past; who can forget the hideously cool and quite evil Honda HSV-010? This NSX then, is no different. Based on the NSX that made its debut at Detroit in January 2012 - and the car we can't wait to get our mitts on in the near future - we're told it's powered by a direct injection, turbocharged 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder petrol engine, mounted in the middle, together with a ‘racing hybrid system'.
If this hybrid system mirrors the upcoming road car's version in any way, then expect a pair of electric motors on the front wheels, and another snuggled into the gearbox to give the four-pot an extra kick. There will be brake energy regeneration, no doubt, but additional poweeerrr too.
There's the usual trick aero aids -on the front apron, the side sills, and that lovely, massive rear wing - along with a couple of side vents no doubt channeling air into the engine bay in the middle. Plus, there are the obligatory flared arches, zero ground clearance and a face that wants to hurt you.
Quite a long time to wait to see it in action then, so it had better be good - don't forget, Ayrton Senna was a fan of the original NSX (he even owned one himself), and showcased just how good it was via some prodigious talent and a pair of white socks.
