We desperately want this Fiat Strada Abarth 130TC
Looking for a niche 1980s hot hatch for Dacia Sandero money? Step this way…
On the hunt for a 1980s hot hatch but don’t fancy a Mk2 Golf GTI, a 205 GTI, a 5 GT Turbo, an Astra GTE, a Nova GTE, an Escort XR3i, a Fiesta XR2, a 323 4x4 Turbo, an AX GT, a Colt Turbo, Charade GTti, a March Super Turbo, a Sunbeam Lotus, a Swift GTi, a Corolla GTi-16 or a go-faster Metro?
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Anyway, if you’ve considered all those options and decided against them, you might be interested in the above. It is of course a Fiat Strada Abarth 130TC – essentially a class-leader for roughly a year before the Mk2 Golf was GTI’d.
This particular example is really rather lovely too, despite the fact it has 119,675 miles on the clock. It’s heading up for auction at the Classic Car Auctions Practical Classics Sale in September with an estimate of between £10,000 and £12,000. Bargain.
Apparently the troublesome Solex carbs have been replaced in the 128bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder, and there’s a Barchetta clutch mod to match the five-speed ZF manual gearbox.
The metallic grey paint has been refreshed recently too, and just get a look at those standard fit Recaro seats. Wonderful.
What a cracking looking thing. Chequebooks out people…
