Someone please save this barn-find Audi Quattro

This mouldy Quattro is heading up for auction with an £8,000 estimate

Published: 18 Aug 2020

Just when you thought there were no barns left in the world that could possibly be housing rusty versions of the performance cars of yesteryear, a mouldy, cobwebbed Audi Quattro is discovered on axle stands on a farm right here in the UK. Glorious.

How wonderful does this thing look? The Ur-Quattro is just perfectly proportioned and Tornado Red is a really rather special colour. This particular one is a 1985 10-valve example and has been owned by the same person since 1993.

At some point it gained a small dent in the driver’s door and it was apparently breathed on by BR Motorsport in Leamington Spa in the early 1990s, but having only lived for 10 years it was parked up in the barn you see above and left untouched for a quarter of a century.

As you can see from the images, the storage situation wasn’t exactly ideal. That cloth interior is looking decidedly mouldy and it’ll need a fair bit of restoration to get this thing back on the road. Rather you than us touching that steering wheel.

Surely there’s someone out there willing to take on the project, though? It’s heading up for auction at the Classic Car Auctions September Online Sale with an estimate of just £8,000 - £10,000.

Reckon you’re brave enough to take it on? There can’t be too many more barns to find these days, can there?
