Is the Overfinch Heritage Field Edition peak Range Rover?

Because every Range Rover Classic should have an LS V8…

Published: 18 Nov 2021

Yes, that is a Range Rover Classic you see above, and yes it does cost £285,000 before you even start to think about Value Added Tax, but hold on a second before heading to the comments to vent that rage.

This is the Overfinch Heritage Field Edition – essentially a completely rebuilt Classic that started life as a 1993 five-door LSE, but is now a 6.2-litre LS3 V8-engined unit with Emerald Green paint, tan leather and a gun and drinks cabinet in the boot. Overfinch says it was ‘inspired by British country pursuits’. Spiffing.

The Yank engine is treated to an Overfinch carbon cover and produces 430bhp and 428lb ft of torque. There are upgraded front and rear diffs, prop shafts and half shafts to cope with the power, plus a six-speed auto gearbox and an upgraded transfer box. For the considerable list price you also get an Overfinch long range fuel tank, a ‘fast road’ suspension setup, performance brakes and a custom stainless steel exhaust.

There's a hand crafted, walnut gun cabinet with olive ash inserts and a leather topper, space for bottles of your preferred tipple and a humidor compartment for your cigars. Because of course. The leather and walnut dominate the rest of the interior too, although there’s a hefty amount of knurled aluminium. We’re not huge fans of that yacht-like steering wheel, but presumably it’s there to help Field Edition buyers feel at home…

The seats are original Recaros, but there’s now Bluetooth audio, a sat nav, wireless phone charging and cruise control.
