Lego has unveiled a new 1969 Camaro Z/28 set

Sixties Camaro can’t have been too hard to make out of small straight-edged bricks. Still looks mega, though

Published: 13 Jul 2022

Go on, get all of your jokes about classic American car design out of the way early on, because yes, Lego has just introduced a 1,458-piece 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 set. Boxy, you'd proffer.

It’s properly cool though. Lego’s latest love-letter to the automotive world is aimed at 18 year-olds and above – presumably because youngsters aren’t exactly sold on the whole Sixties muscle car thing these days. Sad times.

Still, for the big kids among us it’ll cost $169.99 (around £143) when it goes on sale from 1 August. For reference it measures 10cm high, 36cm long and 14cm wide. There’s a working steering wheel, a detailed engine and opening and closing doors too.

You can only have the Z/28 (which was an almost race-ready iteration of the first-gen Camaro) in black, but Lego has designed parts to hide the headlights – very cool – and you can build the thing as a coupe or a convertible. Oh, and there’s a choice of grey, red or white stripes.

Like it, folks?
