The last ever Mulsanne commissioned by Queen Elizabeth II has returned to Bentley HQ

Her Majesty The Queen tailored the final Bentley Mulsanne rather beautifully, as one would expect

Published: 23 Nov 2023

Bentley has added the last ever Mulsanne to its Heritage collection. And this one is extra special, as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was the customer who commissioned the unique interior of this bespoke extended wheelbase variant – a fruity £275k when new.

Produced between 2009 and 2020, the Mulsanne takes its name from the famous straight of the Le Mans circuit of course. It features Bentley’s 529bhp 6.75-litre V8 and as part of its ‘final 30’ series, Mulliner worked with the late Queen to customise her Mulsanne to meet the Royal standard.

That resulted in this Barnato Green barge. The bodywork is accented with chrome brightwork, while the iconic Flying B and gleaming 21in chrome wheels appear to have been kept in pristine condition these last few years. The exterior is combined with a twine and Cumbrian hide interior and of course, there’s deep pile lambswool carpets. It looks as flawless today, as it ever did.

A very cool control panel is home to buttons which initiate blue police lights, a siren and a bullhorn – all discretely hidden under a fabulous walnut veneer. One does wonder if any of those custom features ever got deployed.

Other unequivocally Royal hallmarks include a custom cubby for the ever-present handbag (nice work, your Majesty), timeless burr walnut veneers bearing the Royal crest and a rear privacy curtain. The EWB also came with electronic leg-rests and a fancy folding table, too. Perfect for a game to work on one's poker face.

Bentley tells us this V8 trooper will sit alongside a 2010 Mulsanne and 2019 Mulsanne Speed in the collection, which lives at Bentley HQ. The brand also says it’s been on a mission to expand its fleet – currently 45-cars strong – as part of a "three-year programme to completely rebuild a family of cars that together explain and describe [its] 104-year-old heritage".
