Lamborghini’s latest creation is a V12 turntable*
*Well, it’s a Lamborghini-branded turntable that comes with a free recording of V12-engined Lambos
This is the Technics for Automobili Lamborghini SL-1200M7B Direct Drive Turntable System. Long name for what is essentially quite a simple thing: it’s a Technics turntable with some Lambo colours and branding.
Although actually, it’s slightly more than that, because if you buy the SL-1200M7B it comes with an exclusive free gift. Said gift is a vinyl record (not a surprise) that features the sounds of six different V12-engined Lambos recorded specially for this collaboration. Now that’s an opera we’d like to hear.
The cars that Lambo stuck recording equipment to were a 400GT 2+2, a Miura SV, a 25th Anniversary Countach, a Diablo 6.0 SE, a Murciélago LP640 and the new hybridised Revuelto. Lovely. Oh, and the record itself is a picture disc that looks like the wheel of a Revuelto.
But back to the turntable. We’re told that it’s based on the Technics SL-1200MK7/SL-1210MK7 DJ models and gets the same coreless direct drive motor and something called a ‘two-layer structure platter with improved vibration damping performance’. To make it a special edition though, you get Lamborghini Y-shape patterning and a choice of orange, green or yellow.
“Automobili Lamborghini and Technics shares similar values in the two companies’ underlying corporate cultures,” reads the press release. Right.
“Both engage in thorough technological development, using unique ideas to provide customers with unforgettable experiences, and are uncompromising in their approach to manufacturing, pursuing an emotional sound that touches every enthusiast’s heart.” Riiight.
